back again

On a roll now, completed the table and chairs see picture
after i painted the chairs cream i recovered the seats and back with a pale blue material
and edged them with pale grey trim.
i have also distressed them to give a worn look

the table and chairs finished, again i distressed the table, i added the grey trim and used silver paint to highlight the raised areas

i made small table mats, and placed napkins in the wine glasses,
the food came from my supplies and i made the posy vase from jewellery finds,

i am very pleased with the finished item
this started as a plain dark brown table and chairs, and i hope i have shown you what you can do with a bit of imagination you can transform the items into something special.

Tutorial
button box

This is a little button box that i made, remember i am updating my haberdashery shop.

to make the button box,

cut from either stiff card or thin wood
base 2cm x 3cm
side and lid 2.5cm x 2cm
front 3cm x .5cm
sides (cut 2) .5cm x 2cm

stain the wood, i find it is easier to stain first as sometimes the stain will not take if there is any debris of glue.
when dry glue all together,

tip for staining, i use furniture scratch pens, these come in various colours of wood and are usually for covering scratches on furniture, but they are really good for staining small pieces of wood.
once glue is set, make a small label for your box,
add a selection of small beads and there you have a sweet little button box

A great find,
i found these sweet little hats in my local 1.00 shop, they are meant for card decorating, but i have found you can take the net cover off and you are left with a base for a hat for you to decorate as you wish,
in the picture the hat at the front is one that i have stripped ready to decorate,

well that's it for today, hope you enjoy this entry and please feel free to make comments, they are always welcome

hi all

The day started out well, got the furniture ready to spray, had spent ages rubbing down, looked in my cupboard, no spray, and I was not up to walking much today, so had to put them to one side and sat there looking at my work table, lost in thought, what can i do, cannot start the nursery, need some wallpaper and flooring, glanced up and what did I notice, my haberdashery shop, it was now in pieces, when i moved here i just packed it up and left it in a box, so decided to put everything in its place, but as i was getting the furniture out i thought how shabby it was looking so i have decided to do it all over again, why is it that as  miniaturists we can do a number of projects at any one time, it must be because we are women and can multitask,  anyway i started , i have taken everything out, removed all the shelves and bits, now left with a empty shop, so i began by removing the coving and skirting boards, rubbed it down and started to paint it, i will be making some more bits and will put them on the blog, also there are some pictures of before i ransacked it.#
I took my curtain samples to my friends shop she was impressed and has displayed them so i hope i can get some orders, i sell my bits as it enables me to continue with my hobby, i will never be rich but i get so much pleasure from doing this, my friend asked me the other day if i missed my job, and when i thought about it, no i did not, i get so much pleasure from what i make and achieve, as they say when one door shuts another opens, there i go again rambling on, anyway take a look at the photos of my haberdashery shop and then look forward to the new one when its finished
i have also added a link for you, this is my friend Brenda she makes fantastic ceramics, tiles, lamps, beach huts, she is well worth a visit. http://www.brentel.ceramics.designs.2itb.com/

afternoon every one

Hi everyone, well I have been busy, made some curtains, these are going to my friends shop and I hope i will get some orders from them, I also started on 4 chairs that i had lying around, found some great material and decided to recover them and repaint, then i thought 4 chairs will look odd so found a table that i will start on tomorrow, how is it that you start on one thing and this leads to another, my little dog had fun she found my box of lace that i had left on the floor and must of thought that would be a good game lets take them all out, so that took me a while to sort it all out, finally decided what my next project will be, I am going to do a baby shop, i love making the prams and i seem to of amassed a lot of bit so i thought why not, see mojo well and truly back,

untidy work place

my dolls house uncompleted

bedding made by me, I hand stitch all my work

the little house that needs renovation some day

there hope you have some idea of my little work place, this year it will be fitted out, the walls will be lined and shelving added, hopefully I can get started on it soon, waiting for my friend, he is going to do it for me but he is busy, looking forward to that but not to the clearing out as I have so much stuff.
see you tomorrow

thank goodness thats over

Good morning to you all

I did start the new year with such good intentions, projects, tutorials, healthy eating and exercise, and what happened THE FLU!!! there was me thinking I am ok,  just a little cold and I will still be able to do things, who was I kidding, apart from drinking and sleeping I could not do anything else, so in the end I gave in and stayed in bed letting it take over and here I am a week later recovering, still not 100% but getting there,
so today I will be starting something not sure what yet, I have got to do some curtains to go to my friends shop, as samples, make a few more objects for her as well, but I also want to start my own project, I have half started my Egyptian shop, made the ornaments ect, but need to decide what paper to use and I am still researching that, I also have a 2 storey dolls house that is in need of renovation, but I cannot decide what to do with it, and there is my big dolls house  a Victorian house, so you see I have enough to be going on with. oh forgot a room box which I am hoping to become a baby shop, just got to decide which one to do.
before I can start I will have to tidy my work room, it has got into a bit of  a state, messy and untidy, how is it you start off thinking I will ensure that I keep a tidy work place  and what happens suddenly you are surrounded by mess, I think the little people creep in and do it when I am not looking,
well enough rambling, house work to do first, then walk the dog, prepare dinner, then its my turn, oh for a cleaner, think I have asked for that before, well I can dream,
so and I mean it today will see you later in my work room
have a great day
