Ebay buyers gone crazy

Hi All

Yes I now believe ebay buyers have gone crazy, as you know I am sorting stuff out for my dad, its all coming from my mums vast collection of stuff. I thought I knew a bit about what sells but I am so amazed at what is selling and the prices they are achieving,
I sold a Kevin talking doll form the Home Alone film for 65.00!! and some board games from the 70's went for crazy prizes, this week I have Disney dolls form the films and they are flying and the Spice girls are reaching high prices, I have the last lot to do this weekend, plates and I mean lots of plates, there is the full collection of fairy plates and more of the same, about 30 all together, so this weekend its taking photos and then putting them out on ebay. sometimes I think I should just find stuff to sell on ebay and forget my minis.

And talking of minis, I have managed to finish the wardrobe and I am really pleased how it came out, I also manged to get some more done to the beach shop, I have started filling up the large shelf I have made, this will contain the soft furnishing and home decor items, maybe next week I can get back to doing my minis, hope so I do not like this popping in and out to do a bit, I like to get lost in my minis and sit in my own crazy world.

I got some time for me

Hi All

Yes I managed to get some time for me, in between answering questions on ebay!! some people ask the most stupidest questions, I was selling my dads tv stand, it had damage to the base, where the dog had chewed it, so I took 2 photos, 1 showing the unit and the other showing the damage, I then got a question, could i tell them where the damage is and would it be possible to take a photograph of it!! I was polite and said to check out the photo's .

Anyway I came here to talk mini's not moan,

After I had finished my painted furniture I wondered if I could do any more, so I have been checking out pinterest for painted furniture and down loaded some I thought I would like to try .
I then looked in my stash and found some furniture to try it out on, I did not have the furniture that they had used, so I am using what I think will look ok.

The hardest bit is mixing the paint to try to get the colour paint they used as a background, I managed to get the colours as near as I can.

I have one bit nearly done the others are waiting, thought I would show you what I have done so far

no time for minis

Hi All

Yes its true, I have no time for minis.
I am busy clearing up my mums belongings, its a job tat I am doing with mixed feelings, a lot of memories are coming back, had a few more tears, some days it doesn't seem true and I find myself thinking must tell mum that, then I remember, she is no longer here.

I do talk to her, when I am on my own, I chat away telling her things that are happening, makes it easier in a way, I just hope she can hear me.

We ventured in the loft a while ago and I sorted out stuff for ebay, some for a garage sale and some for the charity shop. i put a load of bits on ebay last week and  could not believe it I had a bidding frenzy for, wait for it, Talking Kevin, from Home alone film, apparently it was a rare doll, and to think I nearly put it in the garage sale box!!

So this week I am checking everything before I decide what to do with it.

By the time I have got everything photographed and cataloged, I have no time left, and then I have to upload them to ebay, write  a description and work out postage, wow no wonder I have so little time left.

I am struggling with one of her collections, my mum collected china dolls, the big ones, they are beautiful and she paid  a lot of money for them, they are still in their original boxes complete with certificates, I will not be putting them on ebay, I have found a doll and toy auction near to where we live, so I am going to contact them for advice. I know my mum brought them as an investment, I just hope they are.

One of my saddest jobs was to clear out her clothes, there were some still with tags still on, I never knew she had so many clothes, these have now gone to a charity shop.

On a more cheerful note, my daughter in law Amy came home last week, she had baby scans for me to see, it was amazing what  advances technology has made, when I had my first child, scans were only for mums where there may of been a problem and now they are a everyday occurrence, and the detail, no we do not know what the sex is, but Amy did say she wants to know and they will be able to tell them on the next scan, at least then I will know what colours to knit in.

Well I have chatted long enough, I have more photos to upload.

blog playing up again

Hi All

after getting above myself and saying I had fixed my blog, it crashed, I lost the lot plus other work non my laptop, how fed up was I, I had a very nasty virus, so I had to call in the laptop doctor, lucky for me it was a friend of mind.
He had to revert my laptop back to its factory settings and I got my laptop back. But everything was missing!! then I remembered I backed up my files ect on cloud, this is where my files are floating about somewhere, anyway popped in my password and there was my files and photos. I am now transferring everything back.

I was very worried as I had items on ebay, but my dad lent me his for a few days, so crisis averted. soon be back to blogging.

I have seen the scans

Hi All

I am so excited, I have seen the baby scan, it is now 12 weeks old and I could see the baby, they have decided that they do not want to know the sex, but I bet they will change their minds, knowing Amy like I do she will not be able to wait.

So I have been busy looking at patterns to knit and sew, I want to make a shawl and a patchwork cot cover, but every time I think I have found something I like I find another!! have finally narrowed them down to 10 and now I have to make a decision, will let you know when I make my mind up.

My legs remain swollen, if I sit all day with my legs elevated, they are not to bad, but I do not want to sit all day, I think its back to my doctor for a chat.

It has been to cold to sit in my work room so I have been sitting in the kitchen and have had a go at making clothes, as usual I started on a easy pattern, a mans suit!!, I think I used to thick material, but it came out alright, I have a lot of clothes to make for my dolls house shop, finally made my mind up, ground floor will be accessories, perfume and toiletries and make up, 1st floor, handbags, cases and shopping bags, babies wear, 2nd floor ladies and men's clothes, attic, ladies and men's hairdressing salon, I will be present day. I am going to make everything I hope myself. I also want to have on the ground floor a large fancy staircase leading up to the floor above. I have a conservatory, still in its box, I am thinking about this becoming a tearoom to sit along side the big shop.

This will be a keep me,  I cannot wait to get started on it, but until I have got rid of my other 2 dolls houses and made room I have to wait. I even know where it is going to sit, it will go into my front room, but need to made adaptions to my shelving unit. So there you have it my big plan for the year.

I also need to finish my beach shop. Its nearly there, just outside to paint and roofing to finish an then I can start to put in the minis I have made and make it look like shop.
I still intend to make and sell my minis, well I have to find the money somewhere and as we know this is not a cheap hobby.
So much to do.

Have a look at what I have sewn so far

oops

Hi All

yes it was a big oops, I was laying the roofing tiles and the end was in sight and guess what? yes the roof was the wrong way round!!!  so there I was was removing the tiles, then came the fun of cleaning of the glue, this took ages, I think if I had more tiles I would of ended up throwing them away, but being on a budget could not do this so I carried on.
finally I got both sides of the roof tiled. Now I need to wait for them to dry so I can begin to make them look like real roofing tiles, I had already painted the roof grey so that any gaps would not show as white.

I had a problem that I had been thinking about for a few days, how was I going to get inside the shop when I put the final wall and roof on? first I thought should I make one of the walls hinged? or the roof hinged? I finally decided on the roof, this seemed the easiest, I have got to find hinges now, how is it that one thing leads to another!!

I continued on with my shelving, I have to wait for the glue to dry before I can get on with putting the shelves on, handy tip, if you have items that are to big for your clamps but you need to hold them in place, use masking tape, this does not leave any sticky residue and more important does not remove any paint when removed.

here are the photos,

the roof tiles, the right way round

My secret revealed

Hi All

Yes I have a big secret, have kept it to myself since New Years Day, and last night I had a call and was told I could now tell it, the only thing I ask, those that are on my face book page do not say anything about it on there please, my son wants to let the family know before it goes public, guessed yet? drum roll,  I AM GOING TO BE A NANNIE , yes my first grandchild, due 2nd September, so much looking forward to this, been told they do not want it spoilt, sod off its my roll as a Nannie to spoil , I have already got it something, a little bunny rabbit with a book for bedtime stories. Time to get the needles out and start knitting for the baby.

Filling the shop, I decided that I have a lot of minis to go in  my shop and I had better start to make shelving units to put them on.

I wanted to have on wall just shelving, so I measured the width and height, and using the old faithful, balsa wood, I have got the back, sides and shelves made, they have been painted, today I hope to finish them. forgot to take photo of it, will do so today so you can see what I( am talking about.

I painted a wire shelving unit and completed some of the other mini items,
